For the past two weeks, PGC has challenged you to take action to sustain our planet. Today is a little different. For the next 24 hours, we invite you to take action to sustain yourself. It’s a well-known mantra that change starts from within, which means that the first step to implementing positive change in the world is to create a positive and healthy YOU.
Whether it’s an upcoming final, a long week at work, or balancing school and social commitments, we all deal with stress. And in this day and age, it seems to be the norm for most of us. Yet, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Being mindful means being present and fully aware of your experiences and the world around you. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can help you manage stress and other experiences that negatively affect your wellbeing. Mindfulness has been proven to increase memory and attention, fight depression, and even boost the immune system. Incorporating a mindful approach to your daily routine is vital. In fact, mindfulness is at the very root of conscious living. As Buddhist meditation master Kalu Rinpoche says, “It is right mindfulness and attention that allows us to change our behavior.”
With leadership comes great responsibility and hard work – which can be stressful. It’s essential to take care of yourself in order to become the most effective leader we know you can be.
Over the course of this challenge, we encourage you to tune into your wellness journey. You’ve dedicated lots of hard work and time to PGC, so today, let’s focus on you and find ways to enhance your wellbeing.
